While ubiquitous digital screens do not activate our sense of touch and leave it suppressed, the multisensory integration of baking engages tactile and proprioceptive receptors to the maximum:
- Insula activation: Tactile stimulation during dough kneading increases activity in the insula – the brain region responsible for awareness of one's own body and internal states.

"The bread baking course led by Marika is one grand experience, a true magic that begins with the simplest mixing of flour with water, sourdough starter, and salt. Through the first tentative dipping of fingers into the soft, supple dough and the shaping of the now firm, elastic material into the proofing basket, it transforms into a golden-baked loaf of bread. The final tap on its underside and the slightly hollow sound bring an immense, almost indescribable joy from a loaf baked with your own hands.

Mari is a professional baker who has been dedicated to sourdough for 15 years. In that time, she has appeared on Czech Radio, in magazines, and has taught in well-known studios as well as abroad alongside other culinary superstars.
She studied baking in her forties and focuses on creative baking. Every day on her Instagram profile, she inspires nearly 5,000 people, showing that baking is more than just Sunday fun—it’s also a unique form of relaxation bordering on therapy.
